E.L. Patton, 80, father of Mrs. H.M. Ausburn of Athens and grandfather of Miss Mabel Ausburn, manager of the local Western Union, died at Bonham at midnight Friday and was buried Saturday afternoon at 3:30 at Randolph, near Bonham, following services held at the Methodist church there.
The deceased had been ill for about a month and his death was attributed to infirmities of age.
Mr. Patton was born at Randolph and had lived there all his life. His wife preceded him in death many years ago. Surviving besides Mrs. Ausburn, is one other daughter, Mrs. Rile Hixon of Bonham, with whom he was living at the time of his death, and one son, John Patton, also of Bonham. Surviving also are six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Ausburn and daughter left here Friday on receipt of news that he was critically ill. they were accompanied there by Mrs. Rube Houston.
