Mrs. Paula Ruth "Polly" Hammonds Hodgins, 77, of Anderson, Missouri, departed this life on Saturday morning, October 12, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Anderson, Missouri, after a recent decline in health.

Paula entered this life on April 13, 1936 in Farmington, Missouri to the late Leman L. and Virginia G. (Murphy) Byington. Her formative years were spent in the Farmington area. On August 8, 1953 in St. Louis, Missouri, she was united in marriage to G.W. Hammonds and to this union one daughter and six sons were born. She and G.W. resided for several years in Flat River, Missouri where they lovingly raised their family. G.W. preceded her in death on September 18, 1980 and later in 1984 she moved to Anderson, Missouri. For twenty years she worked as a CNA at McDonald County Nursing Center in Anderson. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan and possessed a great love for her family. Paula was of the Pentecostal faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, G.W. Hammonds; and five siblings.

Paula is survived by one daughter, Nancy Overstreet of Pineville, Missouri; six sons, Donnie Hammonds and wife, Frances, of Tuckerman, Arkansas, George Hammonds and wife, Linda, of Piedmont, Missouri, Mike Hammonds of Anderson, Missouri, Steve Hammonds and wife, Pat, of Joplin, Missouri, Kenny Hammonds and wife, Kim, of Neosho, Missouri and Tim Hammonds of Anderson, Missouri; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Sidney "Jack" Byington of Rolla, Missouri; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hodgins are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 15, 2013 in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Homes with Pastor Glen "Dob" Overstreet. Burial will follow in the Anderson Cemetery. Her six sons will be honoring her life by serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday morning at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. On-line condolences may be sent to the family through our website www.ozarkfuneralhome.com.
