ROBERT H. FRIZZELL, JR. was born Feb. 6, 1929 in Wichita Falls, TX. to Robert Herman Frizzell and Virginia Mae Ward Frizzell. He died peacefully at home on May 19, 2008. Robert came to Houston at age six, living here ever since. He attended Montrose Elementary, Lanier Jr. High and San Jacinto High, graduating in 1947. He was in the Class of '51 at Texas A & M in B Engineers. He served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers stationed in Germany from 1952-54, and served in the Army reserves here in Houston for 11 years with the 75th Manuver Area Command. He was with Texaco for four years before joining the Texas Highway Dept. in 1959, retiring in 1987. Bob enjoyed helping others, meeting people, and visiting friends. He loved all things related to Texas A & M, especially football and even Aggie jokes. He served his neighborhood civic association for many years and worked with Sam Houston Area Boy Scouts for 23 years as Scout Master of Troop 825, at Church of the Holy Spirit; Wood Badge training for adults; Order of the Arrow, Virgil Honor; and received the Silver Beaver Award in 1979. Although confirmed as a Baptist at South Main Baptist when 12 years old; upon his marriage he became a Presbyterian. He was a member of 2nd Presbyterian, Memorial Drive Presbyterian and most recently Pines Presbyterian, at various times serving as teacher, Deacon or Elder. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Agnes Wingate Frizzell, son Robert Walter of San Marcos, TX., daughter Emma Elizabeth of Houston and son Bradley Wingate and wife Elaina of Austin, TX.; and sister Lorine Whitten of Peyton, CO. The family wishes to thank Joyce Harris for her loving and competent care of Bob during his illness; and Dr. James Lewis for his compassion and help. On Thursday, May 22, at 2 pm, a Memorial Service officiated by Rev. Wayne Eberly, will be held at Pines Presbyterian Church, 12751 Kimberley Lane near Beltway 8. A reception for friends and family will be held in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association, 2242 W. Holcombe Blvd. Houston, TX. 77030.
