Madelyn Sophia (Corsa) (Herrell) Davis, 92, left this world on Friday, April 15. She was preceded in death by her parents Clayborne and Irene (Insley) Corsa; sisters, Francis Stein and Virginia Lee Howell; brothers, C. Boyd Corsa; Carl D. Corsa; and Clayborne Corsa, Jr. She leaves behind her husband, Floyd M. Davis; son Fenton M. Herrell and wife Arlene; daughters Patricia Lambert and husband Mike; and Pam Herrell. She will be missed by her sister, Charlotte Haynie; grandchildren, John Lamber, Courtney Lambert, Jennifer Furgiuele, and Jonathan Herrell. In addition seven great grandchild. Madelyn was a professional hairdresser owning and operating her business in Arlington, Virginia. She married Floyd Davis in 1976 and traveled throughout the world with him as he served for the Department of Defense. They loved ballroom dancing and all sports especially baseball. She pitched for the Arlington Aces in the 1940s and played on the fields near the Reflection Pond in Washington, D.C. She arrived in Springfield in 2002 and joined Springfield Hospitality Club where she met many wonderful women and became involved in bridge, bunco, and committee work. She is a member of St. James Episcopal Church where funeral services will be held on Monday, April 18th at 10 am.
