Richard Roby, Truro

Richard Darrell Roby, 64, of Truro, died after a long illness on Sept. 7, 1997 in Aptos, Calif. Funeral services were Sept. 12 at the Santa Cruz Memorial Park Mission Chapel with Pastor Rene Schlaepfer officiating.

He was born in Truro on Sept. 29, 1932 and lived in the area until 1976 when he moved to Calif. where he worked in the circulation department at the Santa Cruz County Sentinel for more than 20 years. In 1960, he won a "Best Circulation Manager" award in Chariton. He attended the Twin Lakes Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Pauline Roby of Aptos, Calif.; two sons, Kevin Roby of Santa Cruz, Calif., and Kirk Roby of Bangkok, Thailand; one daughter, Kimberlee Low of Santa Cruz; two brothers, Paul Roby Jr. of Red Oak and Otis Roby of Truro; three sisters, Betty Williams and Anne Parker of Indianola, Lila Parker of Wick, and three grandchildren.
