Enlisted on 5/22/1861, he was mustered into "C" Co. VA 30th Infantry as a Private.
Detached 6/2/1861 as Asst. to Regimental Commissary.
Detached 10/12/1861 permanently to Chief of Ordnance, Richmond, Va.
No further record.

Postwar he was the proprietor of the Rialto, Alhambra, Green House and Central Hotels, Fredericksburg; Oyster Dealer.

The 30th Infantry Regiment completed its organization at Fredericksburg, Virginia, in June, 1861. Men of this unit were from Fredericksburg and the counties of Spotsylvania, Caroline, Stafford, and King George.
