Bob graduated from Easton High School in 1958 and joined the Marine Corps after graduation. He served until 1962.
On May 13, 1961, Bob married, Jeanie Harnish in Easton, Kan. She survives at the home. He is also survived by his children, Michele (Kerry) Brungardt of Lansing, Kan., Michael (Tara) Lawrence of San Marcos, Calif., and Patty (David) Scharinger of Leavenworth, Kan; a sister, Nancy Reed of Easton, Kan.; a brother, Bill Lawrence of Lawrence, Kan.; nine grandchildren, one great granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepfather, Joe Funk; and his sisters Patricia and Bonnie.
Bob retired from The Federal Bureau of Prisons in 1990 after 25 years of loyal service. He was a charter member of Kickapoo Township Volunteer Fire Department, The Kansas Peace Officers' Association, The National Rifle Association, and St. Joseph Mens Society. He was very active in St. Joseph Catholic Parish. He was also very involved and supportive of his children and grandchildren's activities. His hobbies included Civil War history, gardening, and puzzles of all types. He loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed.
Visitation beginning with praying the rosary will be from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at The R.L. Leintz Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Reverend David McEvoy, O.Carm., as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Easton, Kan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
