Karen Sue Cory Shields, 65, of Amarillo died Thursday, Oct, 10, 2013.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Church of Christ at The Colonies with Dick Marcear officiating. Arrangements are by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive.
Karen was born Feb. 7, 1948, in Amarillo, where she was raised. She worked as a licensed vocational nurse at High Plains Baptist Hospital and in various doctors' offices. She was retired.
Karen married Edward Shields on Oct. 31, 1964, in Amarillo.
Karen was as member of Church of Christ at The Colonies. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She lived for her family.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Ruth Cory.
Survivors include her loving husband, Edward Shields; a daughter, Tammie Cleeton and husband Ron of Amarillo; two sons, Cory Shields and wife Nancy of Cedar Park and Zane Shields and wife Kimberlee of Lubbock; six grandchildren, Rebecca and Sam Cleeton, Jack and Ainsley Shields and Addison and Ethan Shields; a sister, Sherri Dean and husband Wally of Cedar Park; and two nieces, Faith Chenault and Liz Phelan of Austin.
The family suggests memorials be made to Salvation Army, 400 S. Harrison St., Amarillo, TX 79101; National Kidney Foundation, 30 E. 33rd St., New York, NY 10016, or a charity of choice.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
