Harvey Homer DeWitt, 90, of McCrory, Arkansas, died at his home on Wednesday night, October 9, 2013.

Mr. DeWitt was born in Hilleman, Arkansas, on March 26, 1923, the son of Homer and Goldie E. McNew DeWitt.

He attended school in Hilleman and much of his life revolved around that community.Mr. Dewitt was married on March 28, 1946 to Annie Britt and together they had six children.

He served his country in the United States Army during WWII and was an employee of Brinkley Electric for many years. Mr. DeWitt loved family time, playing his guitar and singing, much to the delight of his family. In fact, just a few days before his death, his family recorded him singing "You Are My Sunshine". He also enjoyed gardening, mowing and tending his yard. Mr. DeWitt's main caregiver was his granddaughter, Sharla, who he called his "angel". His home is situated in the backyard of one of his daughters, Mary Jo Millwee and he called her his "right hand man". All of his children, grand and great-grand-children had a special place in his life and his heart. His presence, sense of humor and love will be greatly missed.

Survivors include: two sons and their wives: "Sonny" and Shirley DeWitt of Kensett and Eddie and Penny Dewitt of Searcy, four daughters and their husbands, Anna and Shelby Ferrell of Searcy, Susan and David Winburn of Kansas City, MO., Shana and David Dreibelbis of Carthage, Mo., and Mary Jo and Phil Millwee of McCrory, one sister: Conita Kiser of Celton, Mo., three brothers: Dale DeWitt of Colorado Springs, Colarado, Arnold DeWitt of South Bend, IN., and Gilbert DeWitt of McCrory, 10 grandchildren, five great-grand-children and his dog and best friend, Smokie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Goldie DeWitt, his wife, Annie DeWitt, two brothers; Clarence and C.L. DeWitt and one sister, Ruby Morrow.

Services were held at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home at McCrory. Burial was in Whitehall Cemetery.
