Obituary for Beatrice.

For 93 years, the world was a better place because Beatrice (BB) Gertrude Blizard Moody walked the surface. Upon meeting BB, you instantly felt loved and knew that if ever you needed anything, she would do everything in her power to take care of that need. BB was born on May 10, 1923 to the late Houston and Jennie Blizard of Blountville, Tennessee. She was the sister to Ralph, Carl and Gladys. On May 27, 1944, BB married Everett Randall (ER) Moody. Together they had five children. In 1954, the family moved to Concord, Virginia, where they began the Concord Riding Ranch. BB’s love of horses and people brought joy to the community and her loving motherly ways made each person she encountered feel like they were cherished. BB and ER continued to serve the community when they opened Moody Transfer and Storage. BB was the heart of the company as she ran the office side of the business and made sure that each employee knew that they were valued. Every person who had the pleasure of meeting BB, walked away feeling loved.

Nothing was more important to BB than her family. Throughout the years, Sunday dinners were her priority to ensure that her family ate and made memories together. The table would have at least three meats, countless sides and the best Chicken Dumplings you would ever want to eat. Her eyes lit up every time a child would enter the room and they knew that at the moment, they were the most important person in the world. BB’s compassionate presence brought a sense of joy, hope and love. Her sweet spirit, sense of humor, curious nature, love of dance and pride of being a Tennessee Hillbilly added to the warmth of her persona.

BB is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, her husband Everett and her son Tom. She is survived by her beloved children: JoAnn Moody (Joan Tonn of Austin, TX), Roger Moody (Revonda of Concord), Rebecca Moody and Laura Moody both of Concord. Her grandchildren Clint Sherlin (Susan), Brian Moody (Stacey), Angela Winters (Kris), Brooke Mlaka (Joe), Christopher Carey (Jennifer), Justin Moody (Megan) and Bethany Carey. She is also survived by fifteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

The visitation and funeral service will be held at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Concord, on Wednesday, June 29. The visitation will begin at 9:30 and the service will follow at 10:15 a.m. The burial service will take place at Emory United Methodist Church in Kingsport, TN on Thursday, June 30 at 11:00 a.m.
