ALBERT MELL BURKE, SR. Funeral Services for Mr. Albert Mell Burke, Sr., of 1492 Maxey Lane, Madison, GA, will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Baptist Church, 184 Academy St., Madison, GA, Rev. Hoke Smith, Pastor, officiating. Interment, Madison Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Albert Mell Burke, Sr., was born on August 1, 1915 in Madison, Georgia. At an early age he joined Calvary Baptist Church, Albert graduated from Burney Street School and upon graduation he entered the army. He valiantly served for five years and is a honorably discharged World War II veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alma and Mell Burke; and sister, Mary Frances Pullium. In 1951 he was united into marriage to Queenie Elizabeth Thomas and to this union eight children were born. In his early years, he loved to hunt, fish, and work in his garden. Throughout his life he was a avid reader, he was a loving husband, and a devoted father who loved his family. Early Thursday morning, April 7, 2005 God called Albert home to be with him. Psalms 128 describes the blessings that God bestowed on our father. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Queenie; he also leaves his children, Betty (John) Chandler, Alberta Burke, Mary (Curtis) Armour, Alexander (Pam) Burke, Albert (Tammy) Burke, David Paul Burke, Elizabeth (Tim) Robinson, Bobby (Venus) Burke, Michael (Delisa) Thomas, Albert (Karen) King, and Ronald (Dollie) Burke; mother-in-law, Mrs. Betty Thomas; brothers-in-law, John A. Thomas (Bertha), Freddie Thomas (Theresa); sisters-in-law, Catherine Thomas, Frances Thornton, Bertha Thomas, Margie Thomas; 30 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and a host of cousins and special friends.
