SALTVILLE, Va. Gina Hogston Smith, 51 passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2013, in the Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Gina was preceded in death by her mother, Opal Hayden Hogston and was a retired school teacher at Rhea Valley Elementary School. She was a 1980 Graduate of R.B. Worthy High School and a 1986 Graduate of Emory and Henry College. Gina was a member of the First Church of God Allison Gap. Survivors include her husband of 32 years, Jeffrey L. Smith; her two daughters, Diana Lynn Smith of Saltville, Va., and Jade Nicole Smith of the home; her father, Charles J. Hogston of Saltville, Va.; brother, Gary and Kathy Hogston of Merced, Calif.; sisters, Nancy and T.O. Miller of Chilhowie, Va., and Pam and Ronnie Doane of Saltville, Va.; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Jeanette Clear, Lori Worley Shuler, Elizabeth Barker; and her work family at Rhea Valley Elementary School. Funeral services for Gina Hogston Smith will be conducted 8 p.m. Friday, October 11,2013, at the First Church of God Allison Gap with Pastor Kenny Howard and Pastor Dale Strange officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. prior to the services. Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, October 12, 2013, at the Mount Rose Cemetery. Men of the Church will serve as pallbearers.
