Eldora "Dodi" Hovde, age 80, a resident of Barnesville, Minnesota died on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the Palliative Care Unit, Sanford Hospital, Fargo.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. James United Church of Christ in Barnesville, Minnesota with Pastor Wendy Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the Barnesville City Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, October 14, 2013 from 5-8 p.m. at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will resume one hour prior to the service at the church.
Eldora Theresa Thornton was born on June 21, 1933 in Plummer, MN to Alvin Anthony and Pauline Josephine (Starman) Thornton. She attended school in Plummer.
On April 8, 1950 Eldora was united in marriage to Charles Hovde. Shortly after they were married, they moved to Barnesville. She worked in several places including the café, picking potatoes during harvest time, worked at the nursing home, and also for many years at the King Koin Laundromat.
Eldora enjoyed dancing many Saturday nights. She also liked to go for walks and listen to Country Music. She was a member of St. James United Church of Christ and the Circle in Barnesville and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Moorhead. She also enjoyed having a good cup of coffee.
Eldora is survived by her children; Sharry (Douglas) Hermes, Barney, ND, Terry (Teresa) Hovde, Moorhead, Mary Niemitalo and her friend, Mike Levin, Lake Park, MN and Kari Krull and her friend, Mike Breuer, Walcott, ND, six grandchildren; Kolynda Korinek and fiancée, Gene Erickson, Krystal Ihli and friend, Duane Charles, Trevis (Jennifer) Ekberg, Levi Niemitalo and friend Serenity Sanberg, Torie Krull and Tanasha Krull and fiancé, Greg Wanner, nine great-grandchildren; Ashlynn Manock, Britney Manock, Cortney Korinek, Dalton Ihli, Chandler Rickabaugh-Krull, Corbin Ekberg, Carson Charles, and Alexander Tufte, great-great-grandchild; Raiden Manock, one brother; Alvin Thornton JR, Grand Forks, ND, one sister; Shirley Helle, Bemidji, MN, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband on October 27, 2012, her parents, three brothers; Morris, Richard and Clinton, five sisters; Maxine, Melva, Marion, Blanche and Marjorie.
