Jean Kanode Madden, 74, of Sundance, Wyoming, passed away on Thursday, October 3, 2013, at Crook County Long Term Care Center with her family by her side.

Jean Cora Kanode was born on February 3, 1939, to Jesse and Pauline (Somers) Kanode, at the ranch home of her grandparents, Frank and Bessie Somers of Pine Ridge. At the age of seven Jean lost her mother, she was then raised by her grandparents, Frank and Bessie Somers. She attended rural schools through the eighth grade and graduated from Sundance High School in 1957.

On July 27, 1957, Jean married Jack Stinson, to this union two sons were born, Steven Dean and Cleve Dwayne. Jean and Jack later divorced.

In 1974, Jean moved to Hudson, Wisconsin, where she met Mike Madden. They were married on April 14, 1978. In 1996, Jean and Mike moved to Jean's family homestead near Moorcroft, Wyoming. Jean joined the First Presbyterian Church and was involved in a number of organizations and activities. She was also a long time member of Alcoholics Anonymous.

She is survived by her husband, Mike of Sundance; son, Steven (Martha) Stinson of Spearfish, South Dakota; step-children, Theresa McCormick of Roberts, Wisconsin, Jim (Kathy) Madden of Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, Gino (Lori) Madden of Hudson; step-mother, Pauline (Dillon) Kanode of Sundance; her twin brother, Jerry (Sharon) Kanode of Moorcroft; brother, Floyd (Janet) Kanode of Sundance; two sisters, Blanche (Nick) Canom of Hudson and Claudette (Terry) Wham of Hudson, Colorado; many grandkids, cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Cleve Stinson; grandson, Jesse McCormick; brother, Walter Kanode; parents and grandparents.
