St. Joseph Lad Killed By Shot
Edward Schwegel Dies Today From Bullet Wound

Edward Schwegel, St. Joseph, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Schwegel, well known farmers there, died at the St. Cloud Hospital at 11:20 am today as the result of a gunshot wound.
Schwegel was walking out of the front door of his home holding his gun. His parents believe that he tripped and fell, that the gun was discharged accidentally. The bullet entered his eye and penetrated the brain. The parents found him fallen close to the door. The youth, who is 18 years of age, was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital and died on the X-ray table.
Schwegel was born at St. Joseph and is well known among the young folks there.

Schwegel Funeral

The funeral services of Edward Schwegel, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Schwegel, who died here Friday morning at the St. Cloud Hospital as the result of a gunshot wound in the head, will be held at 7:30 am Tuesday morning in the Catholic Church at St. Joseph. The lad was the second oldest child in the family, which includes Andrew, Rose, Catherine, Wilfred, Ida May, Eleanor, Alvina and Ronald Schwegel. The remains are at the farm home near St. Joseph.
Pallbearers at the funeral will be Peter Puerringer, Lawrence Hartig, Roman Terwey, John Schneider, Dan Mertes, and Ray Pfannenstein. The honorary group will consist of Walter, Sylvester Albert and Edward Gillitzer, Clarence and Eugene Schwegel. The crossbearer will be Claude Dullinger.
