Age 95, of Wilmington, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 5, 2013.

Marion was born in Middletown, New York, the daughter of the late Jennie and Charles Tuthill. She retired from the DuPont Co. Experimental Station where she worked from the mid 50's as a cashier in the cafeteria and was a laboratory technician at the time of her retirement in the early 70's.

Marion was a devoted and active Charter member of Limestone Presbyterian Church where she was the first President of the Women's Association. She enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, traveling, camping and square dancing. Most of all Marion loved her family, her church and church family.

Marion was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Luther Bicknell in 1991 and her second husband of 5 years, William Simmons in 2000; her daughter, Beverly Slicer on February 27, 2013 and her sister, Doris Powell.

Marion is survived by her daughter, Roberta Van Pelt (Henry); her grandchildren, Leigh Slicer (Vito Hughes), David Slicer (Michelle), Christopher Slicer (Martine), Jennifer Scott (John), Diana Herold (Bill) and Rebecca Van Pelt; her son-in-law, L. Curtis Slicer, Jr.; her 13 great grandchildren and her 3 nephews and their spouses.

Funeral Services will be 11 am on Tuesday, October 15 at Limestone Presbyterian Church where visitation will begin at 9:30 am. Burial will be at Gracelawn Memorial Park.

Marion's family would like to express their thanks to her longtime caregivers, Nancy Hackett and Kathy Milonas as well as the staff at Compassionate Care Hospice. Special thanks to mom's devoted nephew Lew and his wife Allison for all their love and support.

The family suggests contributions in Marion's memory to the Limestone Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 3201 Limestone Road, Wilmington, DE 19808.
