Rachel Elizabeth Knight, 89, of Parkersburg, formerly of Slate went home to be with the Lord Thursday February 19, 2004 at Camden Clark Memorial Hospital. She was born in Ripley, WV a daughter of the late Aaron M. and Mary Blanche Duskey Grady.
She was a homemaker and a born again Christian. She was a member of Slate United Methodist Church. She was President of the Residents Council of Ohio Valley Healthcare.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Royal E. and Lana Marie Knight of Great Falls, MT; seven daughters and their spouses Jean and Gail Shaffer of Mineral Wells, Shirley and Gail West of Parkersburg, Frances and William Morris of Parkersburg, Alza Duckworth of Elizabeth, Carolyn S. and Frank Gilmore of Langsville, OH, Rachel Irene and William Sleath of Warrenton, VA, and Suzie J. and David Stull of Parkersburg; four sisters Ruth Smith of Racine, OH, Luda Arnott of Orlando, FL, Betty Reed of Lafayette, IN, and Mary Jane Fontaine of Spencer, WV; four brothers Blaine Grady of Woodbourne, OR, Walter Grady of Alabama, Harold Grady of Spencer, WV, and Clarke Grady of Lafayette, IN; twenty-six grandchildren; forty-one great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Roscoe E. Knight in 1990; two sons Charles and Aaron Knight; three sisters Juanita Grady, Emma Scarberry, and Wanda Powell; two brothers Dewight Dewayne Brady; three grandchildren; and a step brother Richard Myers.

Services will be Monday 1:00 PM at Slate United Methodist Church with Reverends Wayne Brown and Danny McVey officiating. Burial will be at Slate Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday 6-9 PM and Sunday 1-3 and 6-9 PM at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg and Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.
