Died in France, WWI. Was initially buried in the American Cemetery, Contrexville, Fosges, France. Was returned to Lexington 29 May 1921.

Participated in the offensive operations in the Argonne Forest, the capture of Lundres at St. George, Landreville, Heights of Bayonville, (Hill-229). Wounded in Action. Gun shot wound (1) thigh, slight. Transferred to the replacement BN via Hospital.

Died of wounds Nov. 8. Death in Line of Duty. Not the result of his own misconduct. Had he been discharged he would have been awarded character, "Excellent." Lt. Col. D.M. Randall.
