Son of Frank Joseph Stewart (1929-2015) and Helga Winterwerb (1932-1999).

WO1 Stewart is one of four killed during night vision training when their Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter (81-23557) crashed south of Mt. Rainier, about five miles northwest of Packwood, WA, near Skate Creek.

They were attached to C Company, 9th Aviation Battalion out of Fort Lewis, WA.
