Alton Newspapers - Hayner Library Newspaper Archive - 1968 May 17 Secor - Fred H Secor, 87, a supervisor in the selection department of Owens-Illinois for 31 years prior to his retirement 20 years ago., died Thursday at 2:35 p.m. in Yinger Nursing Home. Prior to entering the nursing home two years ago, Mr Secor lived at 3418 Milton Drive. He was born Jan 28, 1881 at Greenville, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Secor. His wife, the former Mabel Johnson whom he married in 1901 at Carrollton died in 1935. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Paul Dooley, St Louis, Mrs, George Holford, Alton, Mrs. Arthur Watson, Ferguson Missouri, and three sons, Reuben H and Fred H Jr of Alton, and Walton of South Roxanna. There are 13 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A daughter Mrs. Ophelia Sims died in 1950 and tree brothers and sisters also preceded him in death. Funeral services will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Cherry Street Baptist Church where Mr Secor was a member. The Rev. John Hansen interim pastor, will officiate, Burial will be in Upper Alton Cemetery. Visitation at Smith Funeral Home, Alton will be from Noon Sunday until time of the funeral.
