George Bernard Fetherlin, 86, of Washington, died Wednesday, October 16, 2002, in Washington Hospital, following a lengthy illness.

He was born October 18, 1915, in Washington, a son of George B. Sr. and Ruth Warren Fetherlin.

Mr. Fetherlin was a member of Washington Alliance Church, where he served on the board

He was a graduate of Washington High School and was a self-employed electrician. Mr. Fetherlin worked as a mail carrier for more than 30 years and was a member of Retired Postal Workers.

He served as a radio operator in the U.S. Army in the European Theater in Italy, France and North Africa.

On October 9, 1951, he married Julia Elizabeth Hufford, who survives. Also surviving are a son, the Rev. Robert Lon Fetherlin of Colorado Springs, Colo.; two daughters, Nancy Kay Fetherlin Mattice of Vero Beach, Fla., and Ruth Anne Fetherlin Grassel of Ambridge; a sister, Dorothy Bernadine Fetherlin of Washington; seven grandchildren, David Robert and Suzanne Kay Fetherlin, Nathan Reese, Graham Adamson, Christopher Vaughn Mattice and Jeremiah Shawn and Jorda Matthew Grassel. Deceased are a brother, Arthur Raymond Fetherlin; and a sister, Alice Romaine Fetherlin Moore.



FETHERLIN - Friends of George Bernard Fetherlin of Washington, who died Wednesday, October 16, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, and noon until 1 p.m., the hour of services, Friday, October 18, in Washington Alliance Church, with the Rev. Clarence Croscutt officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by Edwin Scott Linton American Legion Post 175. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Washington Alliance Church Building Fund, 17 East Walnut Street, Washington.
