Herschel R Beakley, 87, of Millville died at home on Tuesday, Aug 13, 2013, after an extended illness. Mr. Beakely was born in Absecon. Herschel served the U.S. Navy during World War II. Herschel was a self-employed auto mechanic working for various auto repair shops in Cumberland County.
He was a member of the American Legion Nabb-Lislie Post No. 82 and The Millville Elks Lodge No. 580.
He enjoyed bowling and was an accomplished pool shooter. Herschel enjoyed telling jokes and stories and had a very dry sense of humor.
Herschel is survived by a daugter, step-daugher, step-son and a brother and two sisters. Also six grandchildren and one Great Grandson.
He was predeceased by his parents Ralph Sr. and Selma and brothers Cullus and Wes.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 7 P.M. in the Rocap Shannon Memorial Funeral Home where friends may call frm 6 P.M. Buril will be private.
