JOHN RAYMOND KAITHERN, 89, died Sept. 11, 2009. Beloved "Uncle Raymond" to family and friends. He will be very much missed. Survived by sister and brother-in-law Mary and Raymond Ball, Cherry Hill, NJ., nieces, Kim Maloney Schmidt, Lindenwold, NJ and Susan Ball Mendez, Orange City, FL., nephews Richard Maloney, Clayton, NJ, Philip Ball, Marlton, NJ and John Ball, Joplin, MO. Mr. Kaithern was predeceased by his mother, Ida A. Kaithern and sister and brother-in-law Mildred and Jack Maloney. During WWII Mr. Kaithern served in England and Germany. He was an active member of the USAF 55th Fighter Group/442nd Service Group Association and VFW Post 20. He was a 51 year employee of PRR/Conrail, after retiring he was a Docent at several Philadelphia historical sites. Mr. Kaithern was widely read and traveled the United States and the world. He had great interest in the Civil War and was a member of the Sons of Union Veterans, Anna M. Ross Camp 1. Donations in his memory may be made to the Frankford Civil War Monument Fund, c/o Elmer Atkinson, 1016 Gorman St., Phila. PA 19116. Memorial Service will be held 11 A.M. Saturday Oct. 3, 2009 at MANNAL FUNERAL HOME, 6925 Frankford Ave.(at Tyson).
