Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois, Tuesday, October 14, 1958, page 2:
  Joseph H. Frew, 52, of Edwardsville route 2, died Tuesday morning at St. Joseph hospital, Highland, where he had been admitted as a patient on Monday. An employee of Granite City Steel Co., Mr. Frew had moved to this vicinity with his family from Gillespie about three years ago.
  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mildred Jones Frew; one daughter, Mrs. Don (Myrna) Smith, Edwardsville, two sons, Rodger, at home, and Connie of Gillespie; his mother, Mrs. Margaret Frew; a sister, Mrs. John Bernhardt, and a brother, Stuart Frew, all of Gillespie; and one grandson.
  Funeral services and burial will be Thursday afternoon at Gillespie. The Rev. Dr. Clyde Funkhouser, pastor of St. John's Methodist church here, will conduct the 2 p.m. services.
