Son of the late George C. and Ruth Julia Shiflett Smith, he attended Saint Joseph Grade School in Enid, OK, and he granduated from Enid High School (1952). He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was the owner/operator of Oklahoma Glass and Wallpaper until his retirement. He was a member of Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Enid. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Railroad Museum for over ten years. He was survived by his wife, Stella Saeger (married on November 26, 1960, in Oklahoma City, OK); four daughters; and an extended family of relatives and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on October 11, 2013, at Saint Frances Xavier Catholic Church.
