Iris died October 6, 2013 in Twin Falls, Idaho at the age of ninety-six. She was loved by her family and many friends. We will miss her.
Iris was born in Pendennis, Kansas on July 1, 1917 to Walter L. Goodman and Elsie Russell Goodman.
The family moved to Twin Falls, Idaho in 1925. She graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1936. After high school, she attended Gooding College in Gooding, Idaho until 1938.
In 1938, she married Leslie Burkhalter. They had two sons, Terry and Allan. She belonged to the First Christian Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher.
In 1954, the family moved to Salt Lake City/Murray, Utah. Iris volunteered for the Red Cross and at the Shriner's Children Hospital for many years. She was a member of the Central Christian Church. In her later years, Iris was a member of the Granger Christian Church.
After the death of her son, Terry, she raised her granddaughter, Robin, until 2009.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie; her sons, Terry and Allan; and her brother, Lynn Goodman. She is survived by her sister, Vera Young of Twin Falls; her granddaughter, Robin Burkhalter; her step-granddaughter, Missy VanCampen; and five nieces and two nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at Evans and Early Mortuary, 574 East 100 South.
Interment will follow in the Murray City Cemetery.
