Ann H. McGuire

Rhinebeck � Ann H. McGuire, 96, passed away, October 22, 2012, at the Baptist Home, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. McGuire was born June 2, 1916 in Athlone, County Westmeath, Ireland, to Joseph and Bridget (Creevey) Hoey. She immigrated in 1927 to the United States with her seven brothers and sisters. The family lived in New York City where she met and married her husband, John F. McGuire, Sr., on June 2, 1940. The family moved to Rhinebeck in the 1950�s to raise their three sons. Mr. McGuire passed away February 2, 1975.

Mrs. McGuire worked her entire life; while in New York City she worked for the W.J. Sloane Furniture Co. and processing orders for Avon at Radio City Music Hall. After moving to Rhinebeck she worked for the Rhinebeck/Red Hook Telephone Co.; Western Printing in Poughkeepsie; as hostess and front desk receptionist at the Beekman Arms; and the Delamater Inn until she was 82 years old.

Mrs. McGuire was a volunteer at the Baptist Nursing Home and a volunteer reading teacher at the Chancellor Livingston Elementary School. She also was a member of the Good Shepherd/St. Joseph Parish where she taught Catechism at the St. Joseph Church and was a member of the Women�s Society and Alter Rosary Society; as well as, a member of the Hillside Fire Department, Rhinecliff Fire Department and American Legion Post #429 Auxiliaries. Ann also worked with the Lutheran Braille Group and sewed uniforms for the Hillside Fire Co and the NYS Police.

Mrs. McGuire is survived by her three sons; John F., Jr. and his wife Jan; Brian P. and his Gwen, Dennis J. and his wife Leslie, all of Rhinebeck; 6 grandchildren, Sean (Phoenix) McGuire of Washington, DC; Kevin (Sandy) McGuire of Hilton Head Island, SC; Stephanie (Chad) Crabtree of Golden, CO; Kelli McGuire of Raleigh, NC; Scott McGuire of Rhinebeck; and Seth (John) Wheeler of Saratoga; and 8 Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by her seven brothers and sisters.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the Baptist Nursing Home C Wint and administration for the outstanding care given to Ann in her stay you are Angels of Mercy.

Calling hours are Friday, October 26th, 4 to 8 PM, at the Dapson-Chestney Funeral Home, 51 W. Market St., Rhinebeck. Members of the Hillside Fire Dept. and Auxiliary will conduct services at 7PM, and members of the American Legion Auxiliary 7:15 PM. Prayers will be offered at 4:30 PM.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, 10 AM, at the Good Shepherd Church, 92 E. Market St., Rhinebeck. Interment will follow in the Rhinebeck Cemetery.
