Jessie Pearl Benson, 70, of Fairmont, was peacefully taken home to be with her Lord, Tuesday (Sept. 26, 2006) with her family by her side.

She was born in Fairmont on Oct. 9, 1935, a daughter of the late Steve and Sallie Brumage Eckles.

A loving mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her, Jessie was a Christian woman who worked for many years as a care giver and housekeeper. She was a hard- working, God-fearing, strong woman who, although she didn't feel that her work was done, had more compassion for her family and friends than she did fear for her near departure.

She enjoyed reading her Bible, listening to gospel and country music, playing guitar and singing, vegetable gardening and working jigsaw puzzles.

Ms. Benson is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Cecil Ledsome of Baxter; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Raymond Benson of Fairmont and Steve and Macon Benson of Snow Hill, Md.; two brothers, Earl Eckles of Canton, Ohio, and Clarence Eckles of Fairmont; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Julia Broll of Fairmont and Opal and Charles Benson of Michigan; two grandchildren, Michael Pickering and Kayla Ledsome; several nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Kay Eckles of Florida and Wilma Eckles of Canton, Ohio; close family friends and care givers, Dave Bacorn and Mary Scritchfield; and especially her beloved feline companion, Fluffy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Theodore and his wife Martha Eckles, Virgil Eckles and Joe Eckles; an infant sister, Sadie Nellie Eckles; one brother-in-law, Lewis Broll; and two sisters-in-law, Ruby and Bunny Eckles.

Friends may call at the Frey Home For Funerals (Addition Chapel), 320 Madison St., Fairmont, Thursday from 3-8 p.m. and Friday from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. Services will be held in the funeral home Friday at 1 p.m. with Pastor Edward Ray officiating. Interment will follow at the Brumage cemetery.
