Anselmo was the son of Anselmo Sr. and Antonia Sisneros of Ojo Caliente. Identified siblings were: Genoveva, Malaquias, Cordilia, Cosme, Aurelio, Jose C., and Ubaldo.

On 11 Mar 1941, Anselmo Sisneros Jr. (B: 1919, New Mexico), a resident of Rio Arriba County, New Mexico; enlisted as a Private in the US Army in Santa Fe. He was described as single, 5 feet 3 inches, 112 pounds, and a farm hand. On 7 May 1942, Corporal Anselmo Sisneros Jr. of the Coast Artillery Corps was reported as a POW in the Philippines. He survived the Bataan Death March. He was liberated from Tokyo POW Camp (Shinjuku), Tokyo Bay, Japan where he was used as slave labor.
