Solomon Burke, 77 was the son of Jonathan and Thankful (Wait) Burke. He came to Windsor in 1771 and married Keziah Benjamin. He was a land owner in Windsor and a member of the first Congregational Church.
Mr. Burke served as a private in Capt. John Marcy's Company. He was present in the detachment led by Major Benjamin Wait that marched to the alarm when the Indians attacked Royalton, October 16, 1780 during the Revolutionary War.
