The first daughter born to Archibald Thomas and Catherine Christie Hannah Cameron, Sheila was named by St Mary Mckillop who was a cousin of Sheila's Grandfather Thomas Ross Cameron.
Mary chose the name Sheila, after Sheila or Silas MacDonald of Keppoch. In 17th century Highland society Silas had been famous as a bard and Jacobite. Her Gaelic poetry is still in publication today. Silas was also a musician and sister of the
intrepid cattle reiver Coll of the Cows, 15th Chief of
the MacDonalds of Keppoch.
Mary chose "Annie" as Sheila's 2nd name after her own sister Annie McKillop.
