Mr. Gibbs was born June 22, 1949 in Salem to Dorman and Betty (Wofford) Gibbs. Mr. Gibbs died October 7, 2013 in Salem at the age of 64 years.
Survivors include his mother, Betty Gibbs, Salem; children, Jerry J. "Jay" Gibbs Jr. and wife, Laura, Salem; and Janice Griffith and husband, Joe Jr., Salem; sister, Vicki Whitaker and husband, Steve, Eminence; grandchildren, Jonathan Gibbs; Joseph Griffith III; Jaren Griffith; Jacey Griffith, all of Salem; and niece and nephew; extended family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his father; grandparents; Richard and Bessie Gibbs; and Guy and Ann Wofford.
Mr. Gibbs attended Hobson Community Church and First Baptist Church.
