Chico Record, Tuesday Morning, April 1, 1913, pg 4 col 4: Operation Fails to Save Woman. Mrs. Marilla May Blakely succumbed in a local hospital yesterday morning following an operation performed several days ago in an effort to save her life.
The deceased is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Proctor. She is survived by her husband, Benjamin Blakeley, and two children, one a baby boy, fifteen days old. Two sisters, Mrs. J.M. Goin of Stockton and Edna Proctor of Chico survive her. Two brothers, Arthur and Louis Proctor, both of Santa Cruz, also survive.
Deceased was 24 years old and was a native of San Luis Obispo county. She resided in Chico but a short time. The family home is in Barber.
The funeral will be conducted from the United Brethren church at 1 o’clock Thursday afternoon. Rev. Thomas Ringland will officiate. Fetters & Williams have charge of the remains.
