Charlotte was born on January 1, 1915 in Spooner, MN to Cora (Rice) and Ellis Bowman. The youngest of 10 children, she grew up and attended school in Carp.

She and Lenor "Bud" Hamilton were married on June 18, 1938 in Baudette, celebrating their 70th anniversary last year. They lived and farmed in the Carp area, but also spent many years living and working on the Iron Range, returning to Carp after Bud's retirement.
