Seth married Harriet Ellen Herrick 14 Jul 1863 in Auburn ME.

He was co-owner of the George Turner (Ship) with William Woodbury, Jacob McLellan, Henry Weeks and Oliver Silsby. He was also a shipping agent for the George Turner (Ship) in 1856 and 1860. Furthermore, he was shipmaster of the George Turner (Ship), Mary Ann (Brig) and the William Woodbury (Ship). In 1881, he was retired as a shipmaster.
