Opal was the daughter of Elmer E. and Stella O. Barrett. She married (1) Francis McKiernan in 1933 and (2) Harry Hathaway in 1956.

HUTSONVILLE -- Opal Barrett Hathaway, 95, did Friday, May 19, 2000, at the Exempla Lutheran Care Center in Arvada, Colo.
She retired as a teacher for the Crawford County school system and was a social worker for the Illinois entitlement program for the aged, blind and disabled.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Robinson.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Leach of Arvada and Janice Rumfelt of St. Charles, Mo.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Pulliam Funeral Home, with burial in Hutsonville Cemetery.
Friends may call from noon to service time at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church.

OPAL BARRETT HATHAWAY, 95, of Arvada died May 19. Services will be held in Hutsonville, Ill. Mrs. Hathaway was born Opal Barrett on May 13, 1905, in Annapolis, Ill. She married Francis McKiernan, 1933, and Harry Hathaway, 1956. She was a retired schoolteacher and social worker for the state of Illinois. Survivors include daughters Mary Leach of Arvada, Janice Rumfelt of Missouri; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
