He was a budding artist and could draw anything he set his mind to. According to his sister, he was very accomplished. He also was an avid fisherman who enjoyed making his own flies.
On June 12th 1951 while fishing in the Spokane river, his homemade fly was caught in debris.
Determined not to lose his fly, Jerry attempted to retrieve it by hand. Jerry drowned at the age of 14.
He is sorely missed and will never be forgotten by his sister Kelly.
His mother was Darline Evans and his father was John "Jack" Jay. Among his many stepfathers were, LLoyd Turner "Redcloud" a full blooded Chippewah from the White Earth Indian Reservation in Minnesota, and Frank Harold Madden
Jerry's sister, Kelly Madden, is the daughter of Darline Brown
and Frank Harold madden , and widow of Charles L. Bahm Jr.
And presently happily married to Ray putman.
