Maria Louise Wright, 99, of Pocatello, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013 at a local assisted living facility. Louise was born on September 24, 1914, the daughter of Gerardo and Dominica Nardelli in Markinch, Scotland. Louise attended many schools and traveled extensively in Europe. Louise and her family were trapped in Livorno, Italy, with the outbreak of WWII, where she met her future husband William Jensen Wright. He was a United States soldier while she was working as an interpreter for the U.S. Military. In May 1947, she arrived in the United States, where she and William were married May 14, 1947, in Salt Lake City, Utah. They made their home in Pocatello for the rest of their lives. William passed away on March 30, 1977. Louise was an accomplished seamstress and homemaker, and loved gardening. Her grandchildren were her main hobbies and her greatest joy. Louise is survived by a son, William N. (Kerry) Wright, American Falls, Idaho; grandsons, Scott (Gwen) Wright, American Falls, Idaho; Derek (Kim) Wright, Pocatello;Idaho; Tory (Billi) Wright, American Falls, Idaho; great grandsons, Bandon, Christopher, Colton, Justin; great granddaughters, Carisa, Brittney, Jesica, and Mitana; one great-great-granddaughter, Aaliyah. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William and a daughter Diane Maxwell, brothers, Edward Nardelli, Albert Nardelli. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel, 510 N. 12th Ave. with Father John Worster of the Holy Spirit Catholic Community officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, October 8, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel and on Wednesday one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Mountain View Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care of Manning-Wheatley Funeral Chapel.
