Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island. Dan Naranjo will officiate.
Burial will be in the Zastrow Cemetery at Cordova, Nebraska at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Mr. Thornton was born June 25, 1950 at Clarksdale, Mo. the son of Marvin and Katherine (Filley) Thornton.
He was united in marriage to Lillie Whittenburge on March 17, 1984.
Survivors include his wife, Lillie; a son, Jason Frerichs of Beatrice; five daughters, Darlene Gilbert of Grand Island, Jamie Thornton of Omaha, Erin of Beatrice, Casey Thornton of Columbus and Kristy Thomas of Lexington; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dean and Julie Thornton, James and Pauline Thornton of Grand Island and Richard and Sue Thornton of Beatrice; and a sister and brother-in-law, Marlene "Bobbie" and Ron Leeson of Savanah, Mo.
Other survivors include five grandchildren Emily, Tyree, Aliyaa, Angel and Travon.
He was preceded in death by grandparents; his parents; a sister, Donna Schineman; a brother, Roger Thornton; and a son, Larry Braden Thornton.
Larry was raised and attended school in Clarksdale, Mo.
He lived in Missouri and Grand Island.
Larry worked as a roofer most of his professional career.
