JAMES DUDLEY POWELL
James Dudley Powell, Sr., age 72, a resident of Rt. 6, Box 141, Biloxi, died at 2:45 a.m. Sunday at Howard Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient of two days.
He was born in Harrison Co., on July 19, 1904, he had at one time lived in Chicago, IL. He was in the automotive body and fender business for a number of years. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church of Biloxi, and a member of the Magnolia Masonic Lodge, No. 120 F&AM, of Biloxi and a passed Master of the K.Y.C.H. Masonic Order. In addition he was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Oaklawn, IL and a patron of the Olive Chapter No. 179.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Thelma Cruthirds Powell, of Biloxi; four sons, Charles A. Powell and James D. Powell, Jr., both of Biloxi; John T. Powell, of Jackson, MS; and William R. Powell, of New Orleans, LA; daughter, Mrs. Jim. (Patricia) Woolington, of Starville, MS; a step son, Roland Poole, of Chicago, IL; twelve grandchildren; three step grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Bradford - O'Keefe Funeral Home, in Biloxi, from 6 to 10 p.m. Monday. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday from the funeral home chapel with the funeral home chapel with the Reverend Ed Hassell, pastor of the Epworth United Methodist Church, and Chaplain N. B Saucier (Retired) officiating. Burial will follow in the Biloxi Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Rites.
