OBITUARY: MRS. L.W. HYDE
A well-known and highly respected citizen of the community, Lillian M. Hyde,wife of L.W. Hyde,262 Dundas Street East, passed away in the Belleville General Hospital on Thursday, March 15,in her 75th year. She had been in poor health for some time. Born in Rawdon Township,Mrs. Hyde was a daughter of Abner T. Hogle and his wife,Sarah Clarke,and her early life was spent at Wellman's Corners,where the family residence was the scene of a pretty wedding on August 31,1898,when Miss Hogle became the bride of Webster Hyde. For a time they continued to live at Wellman's,where Mr. Hyde was engaged in the blacksmith business. About forty-three years ago they moved to Trenton,where Mr. Hyde became well-known in electrical repair work. Mrs. Hyde,who was a member of Grace United Church,took an active interest in all church activities. As well as being a Sunday School teacher for many years,she was an energetic worker in the WMS,the WCTU and Group Two of the Woman's Association of the church. Left to mourn her passing,besides her husband,are two daughters,Anita,at home,and Mrs. Stanley Thorpe (Lela) of Napanee; one son,Roy Hyde,Trenton,and four grandsons, Douglas and Glenn Hyde and Murray and Gary Thorpe. Funeral service,under the direction of G.H. Cobley,was conducted from the family residence on Saturday afternoon, March 17,by Rev. J.G. McKee,interment being made in Mount Evergreen Cemetery. Many lovely floral tributes testified to the esteem in which deceased was held by a wide circle of friends. The bearers were V.P. Carswell,Lewis A. Wilson,W.S. Jones, Bruce Robertson,Samuel Griffith and Jesse Goodsell.
