Ruth was born Nov. 27, 1921, at Lucas, Iowa, the daughter of Virgil Guy and Louise Gayle (Howard) Hall. She died Sept.16, 2009, in Coos Bay.
She was raised and educated in Iowa, Colorado, and Washington. She met Grover Hanna at Hood River and they were married Nov. 26, 1944, in White Salmon, Wash. They moved in 1954 to Lakeside, where Ruth made pies for a local restaurant and was a Cub Scout den mother. In 1958, they moved to Englewood and then to their home in Empire in 1960.
Ruth worked at Twin City Laundry for many years, she was a lifetime member of the Coos Bay Eagles Lodge and was a member Coos County Election Board for many years. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed embroidery, handicrafts, quilting, music, and most of all, spending time with her family.
Ruth is survived by her husband of 64 years, Grover J. Hanna of Coos Bay; son, Robert "Bob" and Marilyn Hanna of North Bend; daughter, Janette and Bob Zartman of Myrtle Point; daughter, Betty Russell and Norm Bigham of Coos Bay; nine grandchildren, David and Glen Hanna, Ellen Gray, Kara Bridges, Greg, Brent and Eric Zartman, Tonja Anderson and Tammy Shinabery; 21 great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Clancy of Post Falls, Idaho; and sister, Shirley Demaris of Greenacres.
She was preceded in death by a son, Doug Hanna; a daughter, Diane Hanna; a granddaughter, Leslie Renee Hanna; three brothers, Don, Virgil "Bud" and Bill Hall; and two sisters, Patsy and Violet.
