Charles M. Armstrong, 68, of 1001 Rolling Glen Dr., Marion, died Friday in his home following a lengthy illness.
Born Feb. 6, 1922, at Hartwick, he married Velma Kleineck Aug. 14, 1946, at Springville. Mr. Armstrong was a pilot in the Army Air Corps during World War II. A longtime resident of Marion and formerly of Walker, he was employed as a machine maintenance supervisor for Rockwell International, retiring in 1982. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Marion. Surviving are his wife; two sons, Steven of Cedar Rapids and Scott of Marion; two daughters, Sandra McDonald of Marion and Susan Hurm of Hales Corners, Wis.; a brother, Marion of Cedar Rapids; and nine grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday, First United Methodist Church, Marion by the Rev. Clair Odell and the Rev. John Gaul. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today in Murdoch Chapel, Marion, and after 10:30 a.m. Monday in the church. Memorials to the American Cancer Society, 603 10th St. SE, Cedar Rapids 52401 or First United Church Window Restoration Fund, 1277 Eighth Avenue, Marion 52302.
