Alvina M. Jacobson, age 90, of Whitehall, died on Friday, March 11, 2005, at the Tri-County Memorial Nursing Home.

Alvina was born on March 18, 1914, to Phillip and Victoria (Rumple) Sobotta. She married Truman A. Jacobson on March 2, 1943, in North Creek, Wis. Truman preceded Alvina in death on October 20, 1993.

Alvina and Truman owned and operated Jake’s Bar & Al’s Cafe in Whitehall for 17 years. Alvina was also employed as a cook with Kramer Construction for many years and also cooked at the Whitehall Golf Course.

Alvina was an active member of Saint John’s Catholic Church in Whitehall. She enjoyed cooking for everyone and was famous for her “Gramma Al’s” bread. Alvina also enjoyed family gatherings and playing cards.

Alvina is survived by her son, Jerry (Joann) Jacobson of Whitehall; a daughter, Jane (Larry) Linse of Lake City, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Dean) Sonsalla, Nicole (Ryan) Metzler, Paul Jacobson, Lora (Ted) Keller, Dana (Greg) Boettcher, Jon (Sara) Linse and Tim Linse; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Verna Kampa of Independence.

In addition to her parents and husband, Alvina was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. in Saint John’s Catholic Church in Whitehall with Father Patrick Umberger officiating. Burial will be in Saint Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Pine Creek, Wis., at a later date.

Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church on Wednesday.

The Jack Funeral Home in Whitehall is assisting the family with arrangements.
