Alfred Adair was the son of James Adair and Bathsheba Griffin. He married Martha "Patty" Chamberlain in New York in December 1835. After his father died in 1826, Albert, his wife and his mother moved to Copley in 1839. Alfred and Martha had 8 children: James, Lyman, Andrew, Martha, Emily, Martin, Newell and Newman.
