John was born to Annie Green and George Washington Herring. John Married Lenora Wise on January 8, 1903 in Oklahoma Indian Territory. To their union were born 9 children: Jewel, Herbert, Ruby, Buddie, Aline, Pauline, Marie, Johnnie & Goldena. All children survived to adulthood except for Buddie who died as an infant.
