Ivan D. Thompson, Jr., 75, of Topeka passed away Friday evening Oct. 4, 2013. Ivan was born November 28, 1937 in Topeka the son of Ivan and Fannie Thompson.

Ivan lived in Topeka all of his life. He graduated from Seaman High School in 1955.

He was a member of the Arab Shrine Temple and Golden Rule Lodge #90 AF & AM of Topeka.

He enjoyed racing cars, especially at the old fair grounds. He enjoyed his pets, having several dogs as his companion down through the years.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathy Artzer of Topeka; brother, Gary Thompson and wife Nancy of Oskaloosa; sister, Dolly Thompson of Wooster, MA; three grandchildren, Chelsea, Casey and Caitlyn Artzer all of Topeka and several nieces and nephews.

Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Doris Cole; brother-in-law, Kenneth Cole and his brother, Steve Thompson.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, October 8th at Davidson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for a half hour prior to the service. Interment is in Rochester Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer' s Association in care of the funeral home.
