Michael Neil Burkhart, of West Grove, passed away at home on Saturday, October 5, 2013 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous six year battle with cancer. He was 57 years old.

He was the beloved husband of Susan Ferron Burkhart with whom he shared 32 years of his life, and 26 years of marriage.

Born in Wilmington Delaware to Jay M. Burkhart Sr. (deceased) and Helen Ann Gehr Burkhart, he was a 1974 graduate of Kennett High School. He excelled in wrestling and was and Eagle Scout, something he was very proud of. Michael attended Penn State University and has worked for Chadds Ford Tree Service for the last 15 years, a company that he considered family.

He has been a member of New London Presbyterian Church, and the Christian Life Center for almost 20 years. His faith was paramount in his life and so was his love for his family. He was most proud of his two sons Eddie and Harry. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and vacationing with his family and friends. He was well known in Chester County for his firewood.

He is survived by his mother Helen, his wife Susan, and their two boys, Edward Michael and Harry Raymond and his brother Jay Burkhart(Cindy) of Shreveport, LA, 5 nieces and nephews, and a wonderful extended family and friends.

Michael was involved in every aspect of his family's life. From Indian Guides to Boy Scouts to Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Little League, AGRA basketball, soccer, and Lacrosse. He also was always known as Susan's wing man with all of her PTA, PTO and Sports Booster's duties.

Michael was a great husband, father, son, brother, provider and friend. His attitude during his battle with cancer was so uplifting. He was a very strong man.

The love and support he and his family received during this difficult time cannot be explained in words. His friends, family, church, coworkers, doctors and nurses, so many people went above and beyond to love and support him.
He was truly a Blessed man.
