He married Roberta R. McDaniel on November 11, 1949 in Fairview Christian Church in Murphysboro. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, James Robert Ellis and Steven Ray Ellis, both of Murphysboro.
Mr. Ellis and his wife had owned Norman R. Ellis Construction Inc. for 27 years. One of the construction projects that the firm completed was the development of Green Meadow Subdivision in 1961.
He was a Christian and a wonderful husband and loving father and grandfather. He was a member of the Jackson County Country Club, Elks Lodge 572, American Legion Post 127, Masonic Lodge 498, Jackson County Shrine Club and Scottish Rite, Valley of Southern Illinois, Belleville.
Mr. Ellis died at the age of 70 in St. Joseph Memorial Hospital.
