Augustus Charles Barlow (aka Charles Augustus Barlow) was a physician who lived in Gallia County, Ohio; Mason County, Virginia (now West Virginia); Meigs County, Ohio; and Fort Scott, Kansas. He served in the Civil War but his records are somewhat confusing. Apparently, using the name Charles A. Barlow, he served first as Assistant Surgeon with the 4th West Virginia Cavalry Regiment and then as Surgeon with the 4th West Virginia Infantry Regiment. He resigned this position on April 5, 1862. On July 4, 1862, he re-entered the service as Augustus C. Barlow and served as Assistant Surgeon with the 47th Ohio Infantry Regiment. He resigned this position on November 29, 1862, and re-entered the service on March 16, 1865. He was brevated a Lieutenant Colonel and on September 1, 1865, he was discharged.
